The title pretty much says it all.
Visually heavy this time, as the last was all words and more words.
On the next day, we were taken to the countryside and there were lots of greens.
Nature was not my greatest interests but after this experience, I wouldn't mind getting used to it.
Plus the weather was so nice, everything else was nice by default. #legitlogic
Obligatory lets-check-the-radiation-levels routine
Here's the cute couple that owns the hills, farms and lands around this area!
Oh yes the media came along too.
We took a quick tour around the farmers' house and measured this spot where water drips on.
The numbers were a huge jump from surrounding areas, to be honest. Just on this little spot.
Kind of scary, but can't do much about it. So the farmers guided us up to the hills.
The uncle was going on with his stories and the auntie wanted her own say too teehee cute.
Up up here we go uh, up up here we go uh ♬♪♫
Look how far we've gone #achievementunlocked hahahaha
Lots of greens with sprinkles of sunshine
Little creepy crawlies that amazed me
Dainty little spring flowers that delighted me
Delicate ginkgo leaves. I took one and kept it as souvenir.
As we arrived to a more level area, the uncle showed us his many vegetable patches.
Unfortunately, many of his produces could not be consumed at all due to relatively higher radiation levels
but this variety below, surprisingly, held little to none radiation levels.
It held such a unique resistance compared to its peers that the auntie plucked some stalks and took a bite.
She offered us a sample and most proceeded to take a bit too. It tasted like fresh vegetable lol
She explained that the entire area had to be decontaminated
but they can't bear to see their years of hardwork on the land destroyed in a blink of an eye.
On the way back to the houses, we walked past a patch of plants and the air smelt like food.
Ninniku gyoza I think it's called? Garlic dumplings. The air smelt strongly of it. Everyone got hungry haha!
Turns out it was because of these patches of plants that emited that unique scent.
Lots of tall strong trees surrounded the hills
The monkeys did it, trashed some of the patches.
It was late spring after all, and flowers were still in bloom.
From lush petals to tiny fluttery petals.
These were also gorgeous in their many white masses.
Matsumoto-san took home a souvenir too? Hahahaha
Got back to the main road at last. I liked the experience, it was all so peaceful and quiet.
Maybe a little too quiet. You see, all the bare land used to be farms and paddy fields before disaster struck.
Silly selfie time with Rina and organizing committee member Manabu. He's hilarious!
After that we moved to a more conventional farm. Vegetables, fruits and paddy.
Am assuming radiation levels here are relatively normal since they're still actively farming.
This is Mr Farm Owner, smartly dressed and ready to train us city people haha!
aaaaand here we go, let's start planting.
Dig dig poke poke bury bury.
Here it is, my pride and joy. Feels good to be aiding the creation of life.
Ribon messing around tsk tsk. Told you she's real fun to hang with!
Once that's done, we moved on to another patch.
To be honest I have quite forgotten what we planted that day. It's been TWO YEARS ok.
I remember a few months after, the farmer got in touch and asked us all to join the harvest.
Too bad by then everyone was split up all over the country/world. Would've been a good reunion.
Explaining the methods and science of farming. He's so passionate about his work!
Mariko got in her full farmer gear, and played the part to perfection haha!
Tech savvy farmer lady wanted a group picture.
Made sure her friends knew how to use the camera lol
As we walked back to the house to clean up, they introduced us to this plant.
and got us to pluck a leaf to pop it onto our tongues.
It was sweet. It was unmistakenly sugary sweet. Unbelievable!
Oh I could definitely get used to this. So nice and peaceful.
I remember the weather was rather chilly, and we washed our hands with really cold pipe water.
Everyone was "ooooh" and "eeeeh" as they quickly rinsed off the dirt.
It was about time to head back to Fukushima City.
Not before messing around a little, as youths are bound to do so hahaha!
Hikaru is the cheekiest girl. She'd come and pop a cap on my head.
and wouldn't tell me where she got it from. So much mischief!
So I made everyone try it on. Pretty sure it belongs to Koji.
